Modernising IT for a Growing Engineering Firm
EP Engineering began life in 1974 as a toolmaking company. Over the decades, they’ve expanded into CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication, becoming trusted suppliers to industries ranging from Oil & Gas to Aviation.
When they first approached AngusCloud in late 2020, their IT setup reflected a story we hear all too often — a mix of self-managed systems and inconsistent professional input. The result? Outdated hardware, no reliable backups, and minimal security.
The Assessment
We carried out a full audit of EP Engineering’s existing IT infrastructure and delivered a clear, actionable report. It included hardware upgrades, a bespoke firewall router for better security, and the provision of two powerful PCs — one doubling as a server to run their new inventory control system from Sigmatek.
By balancing performance with cost-efficiency, we ensured their small team could take full advantage of the new software without overinvesting in unnecessary infrastructure.
Adapting as the Business Grew
Fast forward to 2025: EP Engineering had grown, and the original setup was beginning to feel the strain. A third team member was now using the system daily, and data storage was becoming an issue. We were invited back to re-evaluate.
This time, we recommended — and installed — a network-attached storage (NAS) system. This allowed for local and cloud backups, created a central storage point, and enabled true disaster recovery. We also provided a new PC to free up the server and enhance performance across the board.
Outcome
The result? Greater speed, more space, and a scalable setup that now grows with the company. What began as a modest upgrade evolved into a long-term partnership grounded in trust and responsiveness.
